Overview

This unit provides students with the opportunity to develop a specialised, discipline-specific or interdisciplinary project brief for creative practice project-based study in the creative and performing arts at postgraduate level. This unit is comprised of practice, content and scholarly approaches negotiated by the Faculty and the student as being appropriate for the student's creative and scholarly creative and performing arts postgraduate project needs and interests. This is one of a suite of postgraduate project units designed for creative and performing artists to extend and improve their creative and/or performance practice through intensive, informed, reflective exploration and analysis, either independently or collaboratively. Students will only be permitted to enrol in this unit with prior agreement from a discipline supervisor. Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes – in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Recommended Student Time Commitment

Each 8-credit Postgraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 16.7 hours of study per week, making a total of 200 hours for the unit.

This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of ‘pass’ in order to pass the unit. If any ‘pass/fail’ tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully (‘pass’ grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the ‘assessment task’ section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%). Task Description

Details of the Project Brief which forms the assessment item for this unit will be provided by the project supervisor in consultation with the unit coordinator for this unit.

This will relate to the creative and performing arts project that students will undertake that has a significant practical component.

Before students commence their project they must seek project approval from the Unit Coordinator who will also assign a project supervisor as appropriate. The project approval form can be found on the Moodle unit website, and must be submitted to the Unit Coordinator before the Friday of week 3.

Evidence of completion of the Project Brief (as a written assignment with appropriate attachments) must be submitted to the Unit Coordinator by Friday of Week 12.
