Term-Specific Information

EPL2 includes two components: weekly on campus workshops and a school based/industry site placement. An 80% attendance at the weekly on campus sessions is required in order to ensure that a student's placement is secured for the continuation on into the EPL2 three week block.

Assessment Title Practical Assessment
Task Description

Embedded Professional Learning 2 consists of: 

  • 10 assessable EPL2 day visits in a school or industry site
  • 3 weeks continuous block (15 days)

 

The student must complete to a satisfactory level:

  • planning for, implementation of and reflection on a variety of small group and whole class lessons
  • demonstrating a variety of pedagogical strategies and teaching methods within the teaching delivery
  • documenting Learning Experience Plans, observations and reflections 
  • planning for, and teaching of, unit work layered with a Dimensions of Learning 3 complex reasoning process
  • planning for the embedding of a Dimensions of Learning 4 complex reasoning process (does not have to be taught)
  • developing a working portfolio as per the EPL2 guidelines
  • attending 25 days in total 

This course is assessed as PASS NON GRADED (PN)

The details of the placement and assessment requirements can be found in the EDFE 12039 Embedded Professional Learning (Primary/Early Childhood) Pre-service Teacher Guidelines. 

Assessment Due Date Placement will occur as per the approved EPL calendar
Return Date to Students The summative report will be returned to students once signed by the Mentor Teacher, Lead Learning Manager and the campus Teaching School Co-ordinator.

The completed report will be submitted to the university by the Mentor Teacher or Lead Learning Manager on completion of the EPL2.

1. Recognise the need for linking knowledge selection to pedagogical strategies based on educational research findings

2. Understand the relationship between knowledge selection, appropriate pedagogical strategies and learning outcomes

3. Application of processes to answer LMQ1 in the 8 LMQ framework.

4. Produce on cue, the sequence of knowledge selection standards, knowledge classification, and links with appropriate pedagogical approaches and assessment illustrated in D2 of Dimensions of Learning
